The perfect event is coming up for film fans and foodies.

October 17 is the 10th anniversary celebration of the annual Film & Food Party, which kicks off the Austin Film Festival.

The event at the historic Driskill Hotel features culinary creations from some of Austin s most notable chefs, along with a variety of specialty cocktails.

Live and silent auctions are part of the evening, which benefits AFF's Young Filmmakers Program. The Young Filmmakers Program was founded to encourage students, ages 9 18, to explore their creativity and improve their literacy skills through the arts of screenwriting and filmmaking. Programs are offered free through AISD schools and partner organizations and grant more than 300 students and teachers scholarships to the annual Austin Film Festival & Conference.

The Austin Film Festival is October 18-25, with four days of panels and workshops and eight nights of films and parties.

This year's opening film is David Chase's Not Fade Away, the story of friends forming a rock bank in 1960s New Jersey. Other highlights include Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut, Quartet, the new film by David O. Russell Silver Linings Playbook, and Flight, starring Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Melissa Leo.
