Remember that Austin man who sued his date for texting during a movie back in May? He's making headlines again.
The lawsuit that got everyone talking has officially been ranked among the "Top 10 Most Ridiculous Lawsuits of 2017." According to a press release from the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR), Brandon Vezmar's lawsuit is the eighth most ridiculous lawsuit in the United States for the year.
The lawsuit was filed by Brandon Vezmar, who met his date, Crystal Cruz, through Bumble, a dating app. Vezmar and Cruz went to watch 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' where Cruz apparently began texting her friend. Cruz told KVUE in May that Vezmar was "exaggerating" about how much she texted. Vezmar sued Cruz for $17.31 to reimburse him for the movie ticket, which she agreed to pay on national television. Even Alamo Drafthouse, and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Director James Gunn chimed in on Twitter.
ILR released a highlight video running down each lawsuit that made the list.
At the top of the list was a lawsuit in which a woman in California claimed she was "deceived" by Jelly Belly about the candy's sugar content. Another lawsuit featured involved a man in France who sued Uber for "ruining his marriage."
