HBO's new show 'Euphoria' premieres at ATX Television Festival

"Euphoria" premiered during the opening night of the 8th annual festival.

AUSTIN, Texas — This year is a big one for the ATX Television Festival. For the 8th annual event, the fest premiered HBO's newest drama, "Euphoria."

On Thursday night, the stars of the show walked the red carpet at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel downtown.

"I think the thing that's really exciting about our relationship with HBO is they've been a supporter of the festival since the first year. In the beginning, it was a rerun of 'True Blood' but it was a conversation that we had where they said, 'In 10 years, we want to say we were a supporter since the beginning'" said Caitlin McFarland, the co-founder of ATX Television Festival.

Actor Eric Dane stars in "Euphoria" and spoke to KVUE about the influence Austin has on the entertainment community.

"Everything premieres in Austin. You don't go anywhere unless you go through Austin first, right?" Dane said.

"Euphoria" was created and produced by director Sam Levinson, who also spoke of his love for the Capital City.

"I'm extremely thrilled to be here. I'm not a good flyer though. I'm not good with planes, but I made it and now that I'm here, I don't want to leave because one, this city is really lovely and two, I don't want to get on another airplane," Levinson said. "But I'm really excited about showing it for the first time to a real audience."

Actors Zendaya, Hunter Schafer and Barbie Ferreira also walked the red carpet before the "Euphoria" premiere at the Paramount Theater.

Stars of ABC's newest summer series "Grand Hotel" promoted their show in Austin on Thursday night as well.

"Grand Hotel" actors Lincoln Younes and Arielle Kebbel also spoke to reporters.

Kebbel serves as an ATX Advisory Board Member. She's been a part of ATX Television Festival since it began in 2011.

"It's grown a lot. Oh my gosh, I remember year one there was like, four advisory board members," Kebbel said, laughing. "But I loved our year one, and I love our year eight. To many more great ones."

The four-day event kicked off Thursday. For more information on the ATX Television Festival, click here.
