While ABC is making history with the first black Bachelorette, one of the contestants is under fire for some controversial tweets he made last year.
Lee Garrett, 30, is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, according to his bio on ABC's website. He was chosen as one of the contestants to date Rachel Lindsay, 32, a University of Texas graduate and the first black bachelorette on ABC's popular show.
Tweets that appear to have been made by Garrett have started making the rounds on social media and are getting a lot of negative feedback.
Many of the tweets have been called racist, sexist and Islamaphobic.
One of the alleged tweets from Garrett says, "Guys... When is the last time YOU actually saw a pretty feminist? There is a reason for this."
Once his tweets came under fire, the privacy on the Twitter account that appears to belong to Garrett was changed and his tweets were made private, but several twitter users posted screenshots.
ABC has yet to comment.
