The Texas Archive of the moving image has recently discovered what is believed to be the oldest surviving film footage of Austin. It was filmed by Brothers W. Hope and Paul W. Tilley in 1911. The footage features scenes of the capitol grounds, West 7th Street, and congress avenue. These men were for all intents and purposes Austin's first filmmakers.
