HOUSTON -- Seven men have been arrested after they were caught online trying to have sex with young girls. It was part of a two week sting operation by the Harris County Precinct FourConstable's office.
For the sting, deputies went online pretending to be teenaged girls. They said the accused predators didn't take long to take the bait.
"Anumber of people were willing to meet us very quickly. Sometimes it took an hour or two. Sometimes within 30 minutes, they were willing to meet what they thought was a 13, 14, 15-year-old girl," said Eric Devlin, Assistant District Attorney on the case.
Devlin says that some of the men arrested performed sexual acts on Web cameras. Others not only solicited a minor, but had pornographic photos of minors. Deputies say one man possessed hundreds of pornographic pictures of children.
Omair Khan was arrested after he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex. Instead, he was met by deputies.
Deputies also arrested Travis Chapman who they say used to be a juvenile detention officer in Virginia and served in Iraq.
Deputies say another man, Joshua Clayton pretended to be a woman as he chatted online withwho he thought was a young girl.
"He claimed that he was a porn star, a producer and a photographer and was asking us to perform on a Web camera, " said Devlin.
Deputies say more arrests will come next week.
