TxDOT works to end deadly roadway crash streak through social media
The Texas Department of Transportation reported at least one person has died in a crash every day since Nov. 7, 2000.
They are working to end the 17-year milestone with their #EndTheStreakTX campaign. It reminds drivers to follow the rules of the road and be alert and aware.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “94 percent of of these deadly crashes are due to driver error: things like distracted driving, speeding and drunk driving.”
TxDOT said they want people to share personal stories of loved ones killed in car crashes. They are also using the hashtag to share information about the past roadway fatalities.
According to TxDOT, 59,388 people died from motor vehicle crashes since November 7, 2000.
