The Austin City Council announced Thursday that it has narrowed down the candidates for the city manager position to two people.

Those final candidates are Minneapolis City Coordinator Spencer Cronk and Ann Arbor City Administrator Howard Lazarus, who has previously served as Austin's pubic works director.

Officials said the finalists were recommended by lead consultant Steve Newton, who has led the City of Austin's job search for the headhunter firm Russell Reynolds.
