KVUE Daybreak

Todd Rogenthien

Nickname: DP

Years in business: 13

Other stations: I am a 34-year-old television nomad. I am currently living in my seventh city and sixth state since graduating from college in 1994.

College: Cortland State (NY) Physical Eductaion

Hometown: Clarence, NY (20 minutes outside of Buffalo)

Favorite assignment: There have been too many to name, but having 24 hours notice to fly across the Atlantic to spend 2 weeks in Italy was pretty darn cool. It was stressful, but something I will never forget.

Most memorable moment: A press conference for soon to be NY Senator Chuck Shumer. It was there I met Christine Haas. She was a new reporter/anchor in Rochester. We hit it off so well, that when a mutual friend set us up on a date, she thought she was going to be meeting a completely different photographer (sarcasm)! Seven years later we are happily married.

Hobbies: I am addicted to television journalism. It's like being a mechanic who restores old cars on his weekends. I am constantly absorbed in this business, where it has come from and where it is headed to.

Family life: son, Peter, born 12/05, and my wife of 5 years who makes everyday memorable.

Why you like your job: I love that one day I can be flying to Italy without a moments notice and the next I'll be shooting a school board meeting. Having a front seat to life is something that makes this job fun....not to mention the sideline passes to shoot some great professional football games!

Awards: more than 50 regional Emmy, Murrow, Associated Press, and National Press Photographers Association awards, including an Emmy for best photojournlaist in 2005, NPPA region 8 photographer of the year in 2005, and the Associated Press Broadcasters award for individual Photojournalism in 1998 (NY), 2004 and 2005 (TX).

Potpourri: I live and die by Buffalo sports. My heart has been broken more times by the Bills and Sabres than I care to share. People who don't know anything about Buffalo can't understand what a wonderful place it is to grow up or how tight the community can be. Austin is the most beautiful place I have ever live though...with Buffalo a close second.
